A Bestiary

Medieval bestiaries were illustrated descriptions of flora and fauna intended as allegories of virtues and vices rather than as objective natural histories. The creatures therein depicted were often quite fanciful, even bizarre. This gallery of odd and emblematic chimerae is named in honor of those historic books.
